Dear Colleagues,

Please find below a free link to our new paper in _Environmental Science
& Policy_ evaluating how we track the adoption of climate-resilient and
sustainable farming.

The study analyzes common measures used to understand the adoption of
farming best practices, using the case of conservation agriculture
adoption by commercial grain farmers in South Africa. It raises concerns
about how CA is promoted, monitored and evaluated, identifying
tendencies that are likely to lead simultaneously to the underestimation
of the challenges of agricultural extension and climate risk
communication, and to the overestimation of their success. These may
jeopardize CA's potential as a climate change adaptation strategy,
providing illusory progress that may itself disincentivize further
substantive efforts towards sustainability and climate resilience.
